More lenses

I'm taking online classes so I can get my teacher's certificate. One of the assignments was to read a book called "Savage Inequalities." It's a compilation of one man's observations on six cities' school systems.

I read the excerpt about St. Louis: http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Third_World_US/SI_Kozol_StLouis.html

It takes about 30 minutes to read. If you have the time, and your heart isn't rock hard, it's worth a read.

I had to write a response to the reading. I wrote about how I was in kindergarten when Kozol was doing his observations. If I had been in these situations, what would have been my outcome? If I was ever in authority to govern such a situation, where would I even begin? Whose fault is it that these things happen? Is it always never mine, always someone else's?

I love people who go all around the world, promoting peace and love in every corner of the globe. I don't think I'll ever do that though. There are too many problems here at home.
