Lenses

I found this picture the other day. I took it when I went on a hike with my dad when we all lived in Arizona.

I like looking at pictures through the different lenses of time.

When I was a kid, I would have looked at this picture and thought "What is that huge plant? Why is my dad in the desert?"

When I was a teenager, I would've thought "That's a pretty big Saguaro. Eh, I've seen bigger."

At the time of the hike, I took it for granted. I never imagined that my parents would move, and then that I would move too.

Now, I look at the picture and think "Man, my parents don't live ten minutes away from me anymore." "I wish I was still able to just drive down Speedway for 20 minutes and be in the heart of the Rincon foothills." "That would really hurt if that cactus fell on you."
