Raps

I'm not sure how or why it started.  Khatab did it, I guess.  He's the main guy in the video.

I think it happened because he was really excited about being in my class.  You see, at the beginning of the year I gave a little powerpoint that mapped out a little about myself and my ideas of how a class should be run, and Khatab had come up to me and said that he really liked my ideas of how to run a class and he respected that.  Coming from a 7th grader, I was impressed.  I mean, not many 7th graders congratulate me on my forethought.

Anyways, a week or so after that he told me that he'd been preparing a rap in class, and he wanted to present it to the class.  I said ok, and at the end of class he got up in front of everyone and started rapping about how fun it was to be in my class.

Within a week, he was ready for another rap.  That's when I took out my camera and got this video.  Karim and Barbod are doing some back up clapping/lyrics, and the two Faridas in the background are really into dancing, so they got up to do some back up as well.  I think Adham is standing up there in the middle, getting into the clapping, and Rohail comes over and whispers in my ear, "Put this on youtube and I'll pay you."  By the way, Khatab's talking about "the Hellmannator" in his lyrics.

And then, last week, Rohail comes up to me outside during lunch and shows me this.

"I made a rap for your funeral," he says.  He's a 7th grader, and I've come to expect the most outlandish ideas ever from his age group, so I didn't miss a beat and said, "Oh, really?"

"Yup, I want to sing it at your funeral when you die."

"Cool, man," I say.  I'm not sure what you would normally say to that though.

He proceeds to break it down for me, and then asks me if I want to keep it.  I did, and so I put it up on the wall behind my desk.

Please keep in mind that they year is young, and we've only been in school one month.  I expect things to only get more interesting.
