The restaurant we had the voucher for was a nice Italian cafe, and it had a great view of the fountain show, with spurts of water elegantly timed to different musical pieces every 30 minutes. The service was great, and the food was good too. Song took all the pictures of the food and us eating the food, so I don't have any of those shots. But afterward, we were able to sit on a balcony and watch the fountain display. I'd seen the one in Vegas, and this was better, I'd say. Bigger, at least.

Dinner at the Armani
Back in June or so I'd won a 500 dirham ($130) gift certificate to a restaurant at the Armani hotel, which is in the Burj Khalifa (currently the tallest building in the world). I'm not really into glitz and glamor, which is something you have to appreciate if you want to enjoy Dubai. Regardless, a meal is a meal, so we went about a month ago (I don't have time to keep stories up to date at the moment).
We showed up in our unwashed rinky car, and immediately felt out of place. Lamborghinis and Ferraris were huddled around the entrance, and our little 2004 Ford Focus stuck out like a homeless guy in the stock exchange. We were obligated to use the valet service, since apparently there's no self parking, and then were personally escorted to the restaurant, packed the lobby and other restaurants that gave the hotel the feel of a posh labyrinth. We passed by rich people sipping on $30 drinks, huddled around bars and lounge areas.

Overall, pretty nice place. It definitely reconfirmed my belief that the best meals of my life are still the ones that you find in some random mom 'n pop place for $5 though.
