Cane toads

I'd read the article last night, and didn't think much of it, considering that I'm in Dubai at the moment, and I have very few Aussie friends.

Then, today in my office someone mentioned this article, and I got a 20 minute in-depth look at cane toads and life in Australia from the two Aussie girls who work in our department. I found out that Australians abhor cane toads, and that they're poisonous and very hardy. So hardy, in fact, that even when hit with a baseball bat, they are more apt to just limp away than die.

I guess that's one of the odd things about the English department at my school: even though the name of my school is "Universal American School," I'm actually the only American in the English department. I like it though, since it lends itself to interesting discussions like the one above.
