Another Christmas

Another Christmas away from home.

I think last year's was pretty tough. I'd been invited to go with a couple Koreans to spend a few days with them in an island town, and while it was nice of them to do that, it turned out not so well because I was inundated with too much Korean and it felt extremely foreign and, well, it was the only time I've ever had cultrue shock in my life.

This year's Christmas was much different. Andrew, the guy in the picture from the last post, came down and we spent Christmas Eve together, since both our girlfriends were out of town for the holiday. We had a mini-slumber party, and then on Christmas we woke up, said "Merry Christmas" to each other, and I made us some pancakes while we watch Harry Potter with Korean dubbing.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Christmas dinner later in the day, so after Andrew went back into town, I had a little dinner, complete with stuffing and gravy. A couple teachers that work in my area have all sort of joined into a group, and somehow I've found myself in their midst. It consists of mostly Brits and Americans, with the occasional Canadian thrown into the mix.

And, that was pretty much it. My Christmas gifts this year are as follows: 10,000 won from a Secret Santa exchange at the Christmas dinner, a couple movie tickets from my co-teacher, and a cheesecake and peach soda from the 3rd graders. Not too shabby, I'd say.

Oh, I almost forgot. As I walked home later that night, it began to snow. A really nice touch to end the day. Everything is blanketed in white now.
