Latin American girls

I was on the subway, and next to me were a couple people gibbering away in Spanish. I haven't spoken Spanish in a while and I felt like seeing if I could still hang, so in Spanish I asked them if they were from Spain.

The older man in the group replied in English, "No, we're Mexican."
A woman in the group, one of those people who's well past their twenties but still dresses like they just got out of college, said, "Why are you speaking to us in Spanish?"

Later on, I told my friend who was sitting next to me what she'd said, and he couldn't believe she would ask such a ridiculous question.

I'm pretty sure I know why she said that though. She probably thought that just because they speaking Spanish, I'd assumed that they didn't know English.

Regardless, I don't miss the stereotypical sass and attitude found in a good portion of Latin American girls. Their Korean counterparts may be a bit reclusive, but at least they seem to have let go of that whole 'middle school attitude' thing.

Or, at least, one can only hope.
