Good advice

I once knew a man who tried to give me some fatherly advice by saying, “You can always tell how good a man treats his wife by how he takes care of his car.” Being a young buck myself, I took his wisdom to heart.
I did not realize until later that he was a bold-faced liar and a hypocrite. Oh, he took good enough care of his truck; it was just that he religiously treated his wife like trash and verbally/physically abused her.
Whenever I wash my car (which is not very often), I think of what he said and how worn out his wife always looked. Sadly, I’m sure he still believes to this day that you can always tell how good a man treats his wife by how he takes care of his car.
