I don't know why, but this story randomly jumped into my brain tonight, and it had me laughing out loud, so I figured I'd better write it down:
When I first got to Dubai, I got this used phone that cost $15 from someone at work. I never really messed around with it, since it was a piece of crap. Looking back, I really should've put the keylock on.
You see, during my third month or so, I got into this taxi and the taxi driver sounded like he had an American accent, which is kinda weird, since most of the taxi drivers here are from Bangladesh or Pakistan. So, I asked him where he was from, and he said Seattle.
"Seattle?" I said. "How did you end up here?"
"Oh, you know," he said, "life gives you twists and turns."
I didn't bother prying, and we talked about life in the U.S. compared to life here. I got his phone number and saved it, meaning to give him a call if I needed a ride at some point.
Well, I never got around to calling him. Sort of. One day, many months later, I got a text from him, and it said "Who is this? Stop calling me!"
I checked my phone, and because I hadn't put the number lock on, and his name happened to be the first in my contact list, the buttons must've been hit by my keys in my pocket or something and I ended up texting him blank messages like 20 times in one day.
Well, that didn't really teach me. I just deleted his number in hopes that I wouldn't bother him again. To this day though, I'm thinking he was CIA or something like that, cause seriously, who comes here from America to drive taxis?
Anyways, a few months later I get a text from one of the P.E. teachers at my work, and it says, "Who is this?"
Apparently the keys or whatever I'd had in my pockets had been at it again, and I'd texted him a decently sexy message that I'd texted to Song a couple nights earlier. It was something like "Love you honey, can't wait to see you tonight and give you a big kiss" and whatnot.
I texted him back and told him who I was, and that I'd accidentally sent him that message cause of the keys in my pocket.
That finally taught me to put the lock on my phone.
