Living abroad and meeting people from different countries in my travels has often made me question America's greatness. In fact, many times I've told people about how a lot of Americans grow up thinking that it's the greatest country in the world; it's something that bred into out education and culture.
I like what he says about freedom. I've heard people claim that it's our freedom that makes us special, but it's not like you don't have freedom in Japan, or Australia, or the Netherlands. In fact, you probably have a bit more in the Netherlands.
People often ask me when I'm going back to America. Honestly, I don't see it happening. I can get more affordable healthcare outside of the US, and I can make better money too. Not only that, but places like Korea are way safer as far as crime goes, and public transportation there (and places like Germany, too) make it so that you don't even need a car. Imagine how much money that saves you. Oh, and European countries (France especially) give much better vacation packages.
It's not that America is the worst country to live in. It's just that there are some countries that offer a lot more in terms of safety, security, and comfort. I can't say as I've found the perfect country yet, but I haven't had enough time to search either.
In America's defense though, I will admit that clothing is a lot cheaper, there's a lot of great food, a lot of beautiful places, pretty friendly people, and of course, Costco.
