Thank You song

Well, my ESL course is now complete, and I feel great. Seriously, it's so nice to have a normal life now. I feel like I just went through 4 months of what having kids must be like. No time whatsoever to just relax. Constant, relentless work that always piles up, and never goes away no matter how hard you try.

The last night the students we were teaching (Filipino and Nepalese migrant workers)did this for us as a gesture of appreciation:

I'll be the first to admit that my video camera skills suck.

So, that's settled down, and I'm pretty sure I passed with flying colors. The purpose of it was just to get better at teaching people how to speak English, which isn't something I'm currently doing, but definitely the line of work I'd like to get back into. It feels more rewarding, and tends to be a lot more enjoyable.

Nowadays, I find myself fervently missing my job I had last year. The students were great, and I learned so much Korean from them. When I left, I was just getting to the point where I could mostly understand what the 1st graders kept jabbering on to me about. Here at this job, the only thing I feel I'm getting better at is my financial status. I guess the grass is always just greener for me. However, I have been thinking a lot about Colombia lately, and one of my co-workers told me just this week that he could get me in contact with his old boss, who runs a school near the beaches of Colombia. I've been dropping hints to Song, trying to get the preemptive strikes in well ahead of time. We'll see what happens.

All my Pima classes are finishing up too. I just have some paperwork to finish up this weekend, and then we'll be set. 6 classes down, 3 to go, plus an internship and some tests. Hopefully this time next year, I'll be a fully certified.

Song's been doing pretty well lately. She's tutoring a Korean student who attends the elementary section of my school, and that seems to be going well. I got to impart some of my knowledge I learned while doing CELTA, and Song's been using the Spongebob DVDs I use (they have both Korean and English dubbing/subtitles) to help the girl learn English.

Song went to Australia last week, and tonight she's headed off to China. She keeps on working on weekends, so it's kinda lonely around here, especially since I haven't made much of a point to socialize with my co-workers that much. I just never had the time, and now that I have the time, I just want to be alone and take a break from it all, at least for the next few weeks.
