My roommates

Over the years, I've had some interesting roommates. Before coming to this apartment, I thought that I was too old to have roommates again, but as my first month comes to a close, I can see that I was wrong. Having roommates is much better than living by yourself.

These are the 2 guys I live with, and 3 of their friends. The guy in the middle is Mohammed, and he's from Egypt. The guy on the far right is Merwan, and he's from Tunisia. The other guys, who are all from Egypt, were just hanging out for the night, and they had a lot of Egyptian food to share. It was pretty good. Mostly just Arabic bread and different kinds of grilled meat.

It's a two-bedroom apartment, so Mohammed and Merwan and I sleep in one bedroom, and our other roommate (who's not in the picture because he recently moved out) sleeps in the other bedroom. Prior to living there, I wasn't too hot on sleeping in a room with two other guys. I felt that at the age of 28, I was above that. But, honestly, it's worked out really well and I kinda enjoy it (it's hard to say that without sounding gay, but whatever).

Mohammed's English abilities are kinda low, so I've been giving him lessons about once or twice a week. I've been taking children's books from the library at my school and going through them with him, one at a time.

Merwan's English is pretty incredible. He speaks French and Arabic as well, and I think knowing French gives him a leg up when it comes to speaking English. Anyways, he and I have been playing chess and pool, and we've had some interesting talks about politics, Islam, and cultures.

The other roommate was pretty cool, but he just moved out, so I'm kinda excited to see who else I get to meet. I now know a lot more about Egypt and Tunisia than I did before, so I'm kinda hoping the new roommate is from another country that I get to learn about.
