Back again

My computer's working again. Cool.

Anyways, during summer vacation I had to teach 3 weeks of summer English classes. It's part of my contract, so it didn't bother me, except that there was some silly mandate that the air conditioning couldn't be lowered below 28 Celsius. Considering that the outside temp on most days was 29 or 30, it was kind of a joke to me. The first week I scrambled around, trying to get the temperature changed. My co-worker didn't reply to my emails, and the other people I asked weren't helpful either, so I had a dilemma: how do I teach for 4 hours without sweating all the time? I tried cut-off shirts, and they helped a bit, but I finally realized that I'd just have to sweat it out the rest of the time.

This and another situation made me slightly disgruntled. I'm not one to retaliate though; it just cemented in my mind one more reason to leave this job behind when my contract finishes next month.

However, I did have a small opportunity to have a bit of fun. My co-teacher had asked me to take some pictures of the classes throughout the three weeks for some unknown reason, so this is what I came up with:

This is the 6th grade teacher's guide book.

In case you can't see it, she's looking at the Wikipedia article on phonemes.

Anyways, the pictures were pretty funny to me. I doubt that my co-worker will be bothered by them. She has a habit of being unspecific (not sure if it's a cultural or language barrier thing), so I'm sure some pictures are better than nothing.

Also, somewhere along the way I got the idea to include one of my friends back home in one of the lessons. I was teaching the words "guy" and "cool" so this is what I came up with:

The audio at the end kinda skipped, sorry.
Fun fact: At the end, my kid is shouting "Don't do it now!" I have no clue why he's saying that, which is why I said "Ok." That's my standard response to my kids for most situations.
