I have a new coworker. He's American, and so far he seems like a pretty nice guy.
The other day I wanted to walk home, and I asked him if he knew how to get on the bus by himself. "Sure, no problem," he said.
Around 1 am I got a call on my phone. It was him, and he was lost as could be.
About 40 minutes later I finally found him. I felt pretty bad about it, as it was only his 3rd day in Korea, and even though it's not very dangerous to be in that kind of situation here in Korea, it's still nerve-wracking, something I could have easily prevented it if I'd given him some kind of map or written directions that he could show a taxi driver.
It kinda reminded me of one time I told my friend Eric that I'd pick him up from the airport in Los Angeles on Tuesday, but somehow I'd mixed it up in my head to where I thought he was coming in on Thursday.
When Tuesday rolled around I was still staying at my friend's house up in San Francisco. I was sleeping in that morning, but after about 5 missed calls on my phone and a couple messages from Eric asking where I was, I finally woke up and figured out what was happening.
I doubt I'll ever live that one down.
Honestly though, being stuck on the streets of Los Angeles is a lot more dangerous than wandering around out here.
