I had a tough decision to make today: I could either wake up at 7 in the morning and go down to a sports bar to watch the Super Bowl, or I could lay in bed and sleep for another 5 hours.
I gave myself a 20% chance of actually following through with my Super Bowl plans, and sure enough, at around 6 am I reset my alarm clock and slept soundly through the first, second, third, and fourth quarters respectively.
Do I care? Not really. It's just part of my life now. Some things I miss out on, but there's lots of other things I see and experience here that I wouldn't if I were back home.
For example, today I only worked for 6 hours, but I got paid for 8. In fact, pretty much every day I only work for 5 or 6 hours (On Wednesday it's a measly 4) and I get paid for 8.
My spending's been through the roof, mostly because I'm still trying to figure out what's cheap and what's not, but I've been here for almost 4 months and yesterday I just put $1900 of the money I've earned here towards credit card debt, despite the fact that I've been spending way more money than I should be.
It's more than just the job and the money though. There's a lot of other great things about my life right now that I really enjoy. I know I can't delude myself into thinking that South Korea's got it all, cause believe me, it's lacking in a few areas. However, when everything is said and done, I can honestly say that I've got it good here. Real good. Whatever comes may come, but for right now, this is just fine.
