Gandolf the Guzzler

What do Gandolf (Lord of the Rings) and hite (a Korean beer) have in common? I'm not sure, but I passed by a huge Gandolf holding a disproportionately large glass of hite when I was in Seoul last week, and my brain started firing away with questions:
1. When was it decided that Gandolf would be a better spokesperson for the beer than any number of cute Korean chicks?
2. Who decided it?
3. It may not be fairly evident in the video, but the huge representations are just kinda sitting on some side street on the corner of a building, not necessarily close to a bar or club. Why not on a more major street, and why not next to a building that actually has something to do with hite and/or Lord of the Rings?
4. What are the chances of me stealing this and taking it back home with me to America?

And lastly, it seems that Gandolf has integrated the handle of the mug as part of his staff. Cumbersome fad? Or groovy new design to keep you refreshed on all your Middle-earth excursions?
