Cultural Barriers: Friend or Foe?

Met a guy today named Adam Abelin. He told me that it felt kind of awkward showing the Consular at the Korean consulate his college diploma, because the diploma has him listed as 'Adam Deathray Abelin.'
"Is that you're middle name?" I asked.
"No," he said. "It was just something I thought would be cool to have on my diploma when I filled out the form for it my senior year."
Fortunately, the Consular didn't think twice about it, probably unaware that 'Deathray' is one of the lesser known middle names of choice in America.
I thought it was hilarious.
I also liked how Counsular Min didn't notice that I consistently slur and mumble my words like a mummer on New Year's Day, something I shall have to work on or hide as best as possible in the coming months.

By the way, I got my visa. Temporary emigration imminent.
