Group Discussion: Why the British couldn't handle the pressure

I was hanging out with a group of British all night long last Friday. We were walking around at night, trying to figure out where some exclusive after-hours gig was. I was just tagging along, trying to keep up with the group.

At one point, the decision was made that we were heading in the wrong direction, and everyone began walking by themselves, very spread out, about 20 yards apart. I became a little concerned, because Lizzy, the tinier one of the group, was still stuck in the back, ruffling through her backpack. I waited up for her as the other 3 Brits spread themselves thin on the Nashville nighttime avenue.

It occurred to me that this is probably why the British lost the Revolutionary War. Their trademark “every man for himself” attitude, in contrast to our American “Stand together, die alone” strategy was most likely the reason why a bunch of farmers managed to wreak havoc on a well-trained army.

I felt it was such a good observation that I shared it with them the next day. To my further surprise, they refused to acknowledge that they had been split up at any time during the previous night.

Thus, I have come to the conclusion that not only did they lose the war because of their inability to stick together, but also because they refuse to acknowledge tactical blunders. British.
