H.C. Anderson was a genius

I love fairy tales. They aren't complex. They provide definitive views of good and evil. They're enjoyable.

I listened to a reading of "The Emperor's New Clothes" today. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/19574/mp3/19574-01.mp3

Although the recording wasn't sensational, I was amazed at how intelligent the story is, and at how relevant it is to our culture.

It's easy to hear this story and talk about society's flaws and how simple-minded some people can be. However, with fairy tales, I think it's more important to see which character I am most like, or which character I would most like to be.

Therefore, I'd like to make a pledge:
I will strive to never be like the emperor.
More importantly, I will strive to never be like the emperor's court officials.
